Students in grades 6–8 participate in one of 3 levels of orchestra.

Mary West Solo Competition and National Solo Competition
Solo competition in 4 age groups.
October 2 — Application Deadline

November 8, 7:00 p.m. — Winners Recital at Lake Harriet United Methodist Church - map
February 14 — Grand Prize Winner in performance with the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra
Middle Level Honors Orchestra
Students in grades 7–9 are selected by tape/CD audition to perform at the MMEA Convention.
October 20 — Tape/CD audition deadline
February 12-13 — Rehearsal at Northwestern College, Roseville; performance at MMEA
Middle Level Orchestra Festival
Orchestras from grades 6–9 perform at one of three festivals around the state.
December 5 — Registration Deadline for all sites
February 16 — Hopkins; February 19 – Woodbury; February 24 — Monticello; February 26 — Cloquet
March 22 — Tier 2 at Orchestra Hall, Minneapolis
